Terms and Conditions

Gozo.Kitchen Policies

You agree to abide by our terms and conditions by booking any of our courses.

What’s included:

Ingredients, utensils, knives, equipment, aprons and carrier bags are provided for all courses. Some meals are included in the course cost – please see the appropriate course details for further information.

Age requirements:

All minors under the age of 10 may not attend as the class and equipment will not suit their needs. Minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult participating in the workshop. If, at any point during the workshop, the tutor believes the child is disrupting the class, he/she will ask both the adult and child to leave.

Health & Safety:

All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes. We cannot admit you into the kitchen without proper footwear. We recommend wearing sensible clothing (IE., not your Sunday best), and we are not liable for any damage to clothing.

If you have been or are suffering from food poisoning or an upset stomach (or have come into contact with anybody exhibiting these symptoms) within 48 hours of the course, we ask you not to attend and contact us.

All open wounds must be covered, ideally with a blue plaster. If you don’t have a blue plaster, let us know on arrival, and we will be happy to provide one.

Special dietary requirements & food allergies:

We can only tailor our course content for special dietary requirements if previously arranged; however, when lunch is provided, there will be a vegetarian option. We will be happy to discuss course content beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative eating arrangements if necessary. There is no reduction in fee in this instance. Please inform us in advance of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties etc.

Lateness:

Our workshops are packed with as many activities as we can possibly fit into them, so starting on time is crucial. As a result, you must arrive promptly for your workshop.

If you are late, please be aware that the class may have started. Wherever possible, we will allow you to join in, however, if you still need to attend essential parts of the class, this may not be an option. A refund will not be provided in this instance.

Damage or Loss of Personal Property

Gozo Kitchen will take all necessary care but does not accept responsibility for the damage to or loss of merchandise left in the venue prior to, during or after a class. Gozo Kitchen is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items in any form.

Damage or Loss of Gozo Kitchen's Property

The participant may be held financially responsible for any damage to or loss of Gozo Kitchen property during the class. The cost of repairing any damage to walls, doors or other parts of the property due to inappropriate conduct will be charged to the person involved.

Right to Refuse:

Gozo Kitchen holds the right to refuse a participant to attend a class if the instructor feels they are intoxicated or may cause harm to themselves or anyone else attending the activity

Payment:

All payments must be made in full at the time of booking. We do not take provisional bookings and can only confirm your place on a course once we receive full payment.

Delivery – Workshops & Gift Vouchers:

Upon successful completion of an online order with us, you will receive confirmation of your order by email to your nominated email address. Gift voucher codes will also be sent via email. You will be able to download a PDF of a gift voucher at this time (please bear in mind that you will have to manually write your voucher code and expiry date on the gift voucher. Without the voucher code, the recipient will not be able to redeem the gift voucher).

Release of Liability:

When participating in a Gozo Kitchen cooking class where the participant will be around or using sharp and potentially dangerous tools suitable to a kitchen environment, the participant releases indemnifies and excludes Gozo Kitchen and its employees from any and all liability of any kind for any damage or injury incurred while attending or visiting Gozo Kitchen cooking classes.

​The participant understands these terms and conditions and accepts the inherent risks of a kitchen environment when they book and make full payment for a cooking class.

Gozo kitchen will not accept responsibility for the loss of any personal possessions.

Acceptable usage of course content:

Recipe booklets and reference materials are provided to support students in their ongoing development as incredible bakers and are issued for personal use only. The sharing of course materials by print, press, photocopy, email, blogs, internet or any digital transfer medium is strictly prohibited without the express wrote permission of Gozo.kitchen. If in doubt, please ask about what is and isn’t acceptable usage.

Circumstances beyond the control of Gozo Kitchen:

Should Gozo Kitchen will be unable to provide for your class due to circumstances beyond their control, Gozo Kitchen is not responsible for any costs, damages or expenses that you may suffer or incur.

Cancellations:

To request a cancellation, you must provide Gozo kitchen with a written notice via email. Unless you have received acknowledgement from us that we have received your request, you cannot consider your request delivered. You may only terminate the contract in the circumstances set out below:

Course cancellations more than 14 days from the start of your course

You may request a change of course date up to 14 days before the start of the course, and we will happily transfer you to another course date, subject to availability, without cost.

You may also request a refund up to 14 days before the start of the course you have booked.

Course cancellations within 14 days of the start of your course

Most bookings for courses at Gozo kitchen are made months in advance. It is, therefore, often hard for us to resell any places within 14 days of the start of the course, and any cancellations within this time can result in lost revenue that affects the ability of Gozo kitchen to deliver quality courses.

If you wish to reschedule your course within 14 days of the start date, we will accommodate you. However, a processing fee of €15 will be charged.

If you wish to cancel your booking within 14 days of your course, you will forfeit your course fees. If we are able to resell your place, we will reimburse you with your course fee minus a processing fee of €15; however, if we are unable to resell your place, you will not be reimbursed.

If a person that is booked on a course fails to attend for any reason, they will not be entitled to a refund or a rebooking of another course.

Travel insurance:

We strongly recommend travel insurance that will cover your costs if you cannot attend your course.

Travel insurance will cover many issues that may prevent you from attending your course, such as illness, sickness of an immediate relative, travel disruption etc.

Gift vouchers:

Refunds are not available on gift voucher purchases, nor can gift vouchers be exchanged for cash or other goods. Gift vouchers are transferable, so if you cannot make your course, you may contact us to nominate a replacement. Gift vouchers are valid for one year from their date of purchase.

Cancellations by Gozo Kitchen:

Gozo kitchen is entitled to cancel any course at any time, subject to the repayment of any deposit and fees received in respect of the course or the part of the course which has been cancelled.

In the unlikely event of cancellation of a course by ourselves, we undertake to offer a suitable transfer to an alternative date or course or a full refund (within 14 days) of any course fees.

We cannot be held liable for any third-party costs, such as travel bookings or accommodation with hotels other than our own.

Refunds:

No refund will be made if you fail to attend all or any part of a course (and Gozo kitchen cannot reallocate your place).

All refunds are made to the source of the initial payment, i.e. fees paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card.

Privacy policy:

We do not store credit card details or share customer details with any 3rd parties.

Class Cancellation

Gozo Kitchen reserves the right to cancel any class due to instructor illness, space availability, or other unforeseen conflicts with the scheduled date. If Gozo Kitchen cancels a class, we will contact students to arrange for refunds or a credit to a future class.

You may cancel your registration for a class up to 14 calendar days in advance of the class date and receive either a 100% refund or apply the credit towards another class. Refunds can only be made by the same method you originally paid.

You may cancel your registration for a class up to 7 calendar days in advance of the class date and apply your fee to a future class. No refund is available at this point. You may choose to send someone in your place. Please call or contact us with the replacement name.

Acknowledgement of Risks

All class and event attendees must understand and acknowledge that certain risks are inherent to participating in a class or event at Gozo Kitchen in Victoria, Gozo.

This includes, but is not limited to, allergies and using cutting utensils.

All participants must agree to follow all instructions, whether oral or written and use their best judgement in undertaking any activity at Gozo Kitchen. All participants must certify that they are competent adults assuming the risks of activities of the participant's own volition. As for school-age children, adults must give permission and acknowledge the risks for their children. Please include an emergency contact phone number in your registration so that Gozo Kitchen can contact the parent/guardian in case of an emergency.

Children under ten [ 10 ] are not permitted in the facility to ensure everyone's safety during class time.

Photo Authorisation or Model Release Permissions

Gozo Kitchen in Victoria, Gozo reserves the right to photograph or record classes or events for their use by attending the course; you agree that your image may be used in whatever way Gozo kitchen requires.

CCTV

Gozo Kitchen in Victoria, Gozo is monitored by CCTV.

Background

This Code of Practice is issued by Gozo kitchen to provide information on the use of surveillance camera systems and to assure the general public that any such surveillance is lawful and fair. Where used appropriately, the systems deployed in the kitchen are invaluable tools for effectively managing equipment, safety and security.

Gozo kitchen is fully supportive of using surveillance cameras in public spaces whenever that use is in pursuit of a legitimate aim, necessary to meet the public interest, proportionate, effective, and compliant with all relevant legal obligations.

Scope

This code applies to the use of surveillance camera systems which operate in Gozo kitchen with control, monitoring and recording facilities at a dedicated location.

Ownership and operation of the CCTV System

The system is owned by Gozo kitchen, which is responsible for its management, administration and security. Gozo kitchen is also the data controller regarding applicable data protection laws and regulations. This means that we are responsible for ensuring that personal data is processed in accordance with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’), the Data Protection Act (Chapter 586 of the Laws of Malta), any subsidiary legislation thereto, and other applicable laws as may be amended from time to time.

Surveillance camera systems are used as part of Gozo kitchen's arrangements to regulate the safe and efficient operation of the kitchen and ancillary services.

Changes

Gozo Kitchen further reserves the right to modify the policies and terms and conditions upon notice.

We reserve the right to make amendments to course content and recipes without prior notice.

PRINCIPLES OF PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING

We have to collect and use (to process) certain types of information (Personal Data) that relates to the people (Data Subjects) who we come into contact with in order to carry out our business.

We are confident that when processing personal data, the individual rights must be protected what means that all personal data must be collected and processed in a legal and fair manner.

Therefore we presume and agree that Personal data shall be:

(a) processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject (‘lawfulness, fairness and transparency’)

The following types of personal information about you may be collected:

Also, when you visit our website, the web servers automatically recognize your domain name and IP address. The IP address of the site that directed you to our website, operating system version and your web browser would be disclosed too as a related information. Right to Restriction of Processing: You shall have the right to demand the restriction of the processing of your data if the requirements specified in Art. 18 of the GDPR have been fulfilled. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Mediamatic [ Culinary Media Ltd] has offices in multiple countries. You are consent that, if it was necessary, the processing of your Personal Data could be held on a server located in the country different from the country of your residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different to the laws of your country.

However, we have taken all appropriate safeguards to guarantee that your Personal Data will remain protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including, using the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers of Personal Data between group companies, which requires all such companies to protect Personal Data using an equivalent standard to the one required by European Union data protection law.

The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to access all the personal and sensitive data held and processed by the Company. 

Right to Withdraw Consent
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to withdraw its consent for the processing of its data and opt out at any time. Once the Individual withdraws its consent, the Company will no longer process the Individual’s data.

Right to Rectification
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to request modification of all the personal and sensitive data held and processed by the Company.

Right to Erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to request to remove all the personal and sensitive data held and processed by the Company.  

Right to restriction of processing
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to request to withdrawal from a particular activities.

Right to data portability
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to request a copy of personal and sensitive data held and processed by the Company.

Right to object
The Company binds itself to allow the Individual to request to withdrawal from all future activities and the removal of all personal and sensitive data held and processed by the Company. 

Data retention
The Company binds itself to retain the data for a maximum period of one (1) year.  Should the Individual not opt-in and consent, all data will be deleted within one (1) month.
