Cold chain management, which includes refrigerated transport and storage, is essential to prevent spoilage and the growth of harmful bacteria. Drivers and logistics personnel play a critical role in ensuring that food arrives at its destination in a safe and timely manner.

Retail and Storage: Preparing for Consumption

Retailers, including supermarkets, grocery stores, and markets, are the next critical link in the food chain. They are responsible for storing food properly, displaying it under appropriate conditions, and monitoring stock for signs of spoilage.
